This handsome baby boy came into my studio for his first professional photo session. Modelling is hard especially when you’re 10 days old, but Cole was a trouper & a great (sleepy) poser! This baby is the perfect example of why you should bring newborns in early — they will sleep and mold into the cutest positions. I always emphasize to my clients that it is best to do newborn sessions between the ages of 5 to 10 days of age. This is when they are the sleepiest and easiest to work with. Once they approach 2 weeks of age, babies become more alert for longer periods of time and they can sometimes develop colic and/or baby acne. So the earlier, the better!

Caroline, her son Owen & her twin daughters Ronnie & Rosie came to the studio today for a family session.  When you’re dealing with kids (of any age), it may seem like mayhem during a session — I let them dance around, make goofy faces, etc. — but in the end, everyone leaves with a big smile and the final results are amazing. And you know what… I have a heck of a lot of fun too! It was a pleasure to meet your family, Caroline. You were all fantastic to work with!

Marie & Rick are expecting their first child and you can see the excitement in their eyes!  They are both busy professionals, so when they came in for a maternity session I knew I had to be efficient, but without skimping on quality. Mission accomplished, if I do say so!  I look forward to meeting their little one when he or she arrives in February!

Reva & Joey are expecting their second child and came to our studio for a maternity session with their 2 year old daughter. Mila ran around the studio like a little monkey and wanted nothing to do with smiling at the camera, but I still managed to get some anyway thanks to my secret weapons!  We’ll see if my tricks still work when they come back for the newborn session. See you soon!

Happy New Year everyone!  What a way to welcome in the New Year! Little Miss Grace was the first to “grace” my doorstep in 2011.  Just over a week old, the wee one slept so peacefully throughout the session, only to peek open one eye at the end to see what was going on. She was a dream to photograph.

It seems like just yesterday that I photographed Amy’s firstborn, Miss Charlotte, and now Amy & Dan welcome another little girl into the family… Miss Skye! One of the things that I love about my job is the ability to watch little tiny babies grow into toddlers, then children, then teens! As a parent, sometimes you don’t realize that your child is changing right before your eyes — at least not until you look back at old photos and see how much they have grown and matured. Seeing Miss Charlotte again was a real treat and to see her giving a million kisses to her baby sister was so heart-warming. Little Skye was a dream to work with. At a mere 7 days of age, Miss Skye slept like an angel practically the whole time, taking breaks from napping only to chug some milk and cuddle with her big sis.

So into my Ottawa studio came a wonderful, fun family who’s portrait, in their own words, was long overdue!  It’s always an honour to capture a moment in time for my clients.  Christina, Hugh & their giggly daughter Alexis were a joy to work with and I hope to welcome them back again in years to come!

Mom, Twins & a Tot

By · Comments (0)

The other day we welcomed Penny, her twins Hanna & Alex and little man Erik to the studio for some family portraits.  It was a fun session with lots of giggles along the way.  One things for sure:  kids love to play in my studio and there’s alot of interesting stuff to look at, but we always get the job done!  All three tikes had the most amazing eyes and both twins had eyelashes that I was very envious of!  Here’s a little sample…
